The President of Tanzania John Magufuli stated that due to the prayers of the citizens, the country has overcome the coronavirus, BBC writes.

"We overcame Coronavirus because of God," Magufuli told worshipers at a church in the Danish capital, Dodoma.

He also praised the people's decision not to wear masks and gloves.

"I want to thank the people of Tanzania for all their religions. We prayed and fasted so that God would save us from the fellowship that has afflicted our country and the whole world. And God answered us, ”he said.

"I am sure that many Tanzanians know that we have overcome the coronavirus thanks to God," he said, emphasizing the applause and happy shouts.

He made the same statement last Friday during a conference with teachers, saying that "the coronavirus is over."

In a conversation with teachers, he called on people not to accept donations of masks and gloves, which can actually be "used to transmit the virus."

"I want to urge you, the people of Tanzania, not to accept donations of masks, but instead tell donors to go and use them with their wives and children," she added.

Magufuli has repeatedly stated that the health crisis is exaggerated and called on people to visit churches and mosques, saying that prayers "can defeat" the virus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed concern about the government's strategy for the Covid-19 crisis.
