This album was an impromptu home recording - background noise, mistakes, memory lapses, breathing, Ori (my son) talking like a Minion as he paged through some cello music on the floor! I needed to do some battle, some wrestling for a breakthrough, so I broke out the ol' axe and played through each of my Ricercare in one take. The album was done in one take. It is fitting that they are on my W.O.I. page, for this is a place of experiments and raw ideas. 
I began writing these in a spurt of inspiration back in 2007 and haven't stopped doing so until now. Hopefull, I don't stop They are non-developed, improvisatory, cyclic-form ideas. I will never be able to play them the same at any given time. This is why I don't wish for a Recording of these, they constantly change with my inner life, a Recording would be false in many ways - at least a studio recording. Live is ok, but a sudden raw recording in my living room while watching my boy is probably the best! 
Ricercar literally means "to research, to search" and that is what these are doing. They wrestle, the struggle, they are wordless prayers, they cry for God. If it's significant to you, in my "search", Ricercare VII and IX took me to a deeper place, a place where I could feel, a place of stirring and life.
